“David Shepherd, Travis Price and their teenage friends organized a high-school protest to wear pink in sympathy with a Grade 9 boy who was being bullied for wearing pink to school. They took a stand against bullying when they protested against the harassment of a new Grade 9 student by distributing pink T-shirts to all the boys in their school.
‘I learned that two people can come up with an idea, run with it, and it can do wonders,’ says Mr. Price, 17, who organized the pink protest. ‘Finally, someone stood up for a weaker kid.’
So Mr. Shepherd and some other headed off to a discount store and bought 50 pink tank tops. They sent out message to schoolmates that night, and the next morning they hauled the shirts to school in a plastic bag.
As they stood in the foyer handing out the shirts, the bullied boy walked in. His face spoke volumes. ‘It looked like a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders,’ Mr. Price recalled.
The bullies were never heard from again.”

…And help keep our waters healthy for everyone!
On September 18th, we’re cleaning up the Lachine Canal in Montreal! But you don’t have to be from here to help! The whole week is dedicated to cleaning shorelines across Canada.
Dates: September 17 – 25, 2011About the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup
The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is about removing shoreline litter to help create healthy waters for everyone, including the wildlife and communities that depend on them. You can make a world of difference by joining Canadians from coast to coast to coast to clean up shoreline litter in your community.
A joint conservation initiative from the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF-Canada, the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup presented by Loblaw Companies Limited aims to promote understanding of shoreline litter issues by engaging Canadians to rehabilitate shoreline areas through cleanups.
The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is now one of the largest direct action environmental events in Canada, engaging tens of thousands of participants annually in every province and territory. Each year, the public support and general awareness of the program has increased, inspiring more volunteers to join in to make a difference. In 2010, the Shoreline Cleanup celebrated its 17th anniversary with 47,027 registrants nationwide.
1. Become a Site Coordinator and organize a cleanup in your community.
2. Register to participate in an already organized cleanup.

I did this. Because I am a girl. If you’re a girl (or a girl respecting fella), I urge you to hop on board too.
Because I am a Girl is Plan’s campaign to fight gender inequality, promote girls’ rights and lift millions of girls out of poverty.
Across the world, girls face double discrimination due to their gender and age, leaving them at the bottom of the social ladder.
Research has shown that girls are more likely to suffer from malnutrition; be forced into an early marriage; be subject to violence or intimidation; be trafficked, sold or coerced into the sex trade; or become infected with HIV.
Plan is producing one girl report each year in the run up to 2015, the target year for the Millennium Development Goals. Each report provides tangible proof of the inequalities that still exist between boys and girls.
Join our campaign and help us transform the lives of the world’s poorest girls.

"Earth to liberated women: when you display legs, thighs, or cleavage, some liberated men will see it as a sign you feel good about yourself and your sexuality. But most men will see it as a sign you want to get laid. Forewarned is forearmed."

If you can stomach it, read his editorial here. I find it vile, uninformed, highly prejudicial & discriminatory. If I weren’t actively trying not to judge him (rather than his opinion), I’d say he has issues with women. Maybe from his childhood*. And he probably has a small penis**. Just sayin’.
*may not actually be true. **probably true.
Hey Dan? Remember… if you get fired, you ASKED for it.
Please re-blog to your ladies & let them know it’s NOT okay to blame victims for their rape or the rape of anyone else.
