Today’s Mantra: Give it a GO!
There’s a lot of anxiety when it comes to trying new things: most people are scared to fail (or scared to succeed).
As an instructor, I get to see a whole range of people try something new each class. It takes time for even my best students to catch on to new choreography or new moves. Everyone fails their first time around. Everyone sucks at something. Some more than others. Hell, even me! But at the end of the day, the students who impress me the most and who I see the most improvement in are those who keep trying DESPITE not getting it the first time. They come back week after week. They do my workouts at home. They are consistent and they don’t let a silly little thing like ‘sucking’ at something get in their way.
And they get better with time. In the last 6 months, all of my students have gone from no pushups to full pushups. They’ve gone from squats to squat jumps. They’ve gone from ‘ugh, burpees!’ to ‘BRING IT ON’.
Don’t worry about being perfect and don’t worry about being the best. Each time you ‘try’ you get better, and one day it will ‘click’. The only requirement to get better at something, is to keep trying & practicing. No one starts at the top of the mountain.
