It’s a random, historical fact that has a tie to smoking. That’s all. He’s still, and always will be remembered, as a bad guy.
I know the word Hitler stirs up a lot. Historically though, this particular fact has been chronicled by scholars, scientists, anti-smoking advocates and more who studied the holocaust, and by physicians, as the Nazis were among some of the first to recognize the harm behind smoking and ban it (hence the connection). Many dictators over the years (through narcissism, or just sheer ‘I wanna live forever-ness’) lost the habit and would enforce quitting on their staff, teams, armies etc.
They’re still bad guys. Relax. It was a simply a fact. An interesting one at that.
